Recently, the internationally renowned Soil Science Journal, Soil Biology and Biochemistry (SCI 1, Impact Factor 4.857) published the research results of Professor Yang Yusheng's team on the effects of soil warming and nitrogen deposition on fine root dynamics. This study provides new information on the response of fine roots in subtropical plantations to global changes. The paper finds that warming may accelerate the carbon input from roots to the soil, and the increase in nitrogen deposition may accelerate this process. These responses may further affect soil carbon and nutrient dynamics, and these findings also help to understand the impact of future climate change on subtropical and tropical forest productivity and carbon balance. The paper is entitled Interactive effects of warming and nitrogen addition on fine root dynamics of a young subtropical plantation (doi: org/10.1016/j.soilbio.2018.05.009). Xiong Decheng, the teacher of our school, is the first author of the article. Professor Yang Yusheng and Professor Li Yiqing are co-responding authors. The research work was supported by the National 973 Program (No. 2014CB954003) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 31422012, 31500408).
